The Division of Adult Institution is recruiting to fill a Corrections Security Director position. This position is based out of Oakhill Correctional Institution in Oregon, WI.

Position Summary

This position plans, implements, and coordinates the security program at Oakhill Correctional Institution (OCI) and UW-Hospital Secure Unit. This position assists in developing and directing their overall security program, including TLU, observation, and restrictive housing placement and is also responsible for all activities within the restrictive housing unit, with development, implementation, and monitoring of overall institution goals, policies, and procedures as part of the institution team.

This position is also responsible for the security program for all areas of the institution and consults and makes recommendations to architects for new construction regarding security issues. This position assumes institution responsibility as directed by the Warden/Deputy Warden.

Salary Information

This position is in pay schedule/range 81-02 with an annual salary of $67371- $119350
, plus excellent benefits. Pay on appointment for current state employees may vary according to the applicable pay transaction provisions of the Compensation Plan, Wisconsin Administrative Code, and statutes. A 2-year Career Executive trial period is required.

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.

The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.

This position is NOT eligible to work remotely.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have experience:

  • Directing, implementing, and evaluating security standards.
  • Supervising staff (e.g., hiring, assigning and directing work, performance evaluations, discipline, dismissal, settling grievances).
  • Managing and coordinating multi-disciplinary teams.

In addition to the acceptable, a well-qualified applicant will have experience:

  • Working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams in a correctional setting.
  • Working collaboratively with stakeholders outside the organization/agency.
