About the Role
MWH is seeking a Contracts Manager to support project work near Boring, OR.
Role OverviewSupports compliance with government regulations, statutory requirements, and company policies. Works on a large project near Boring, OR with potential to support multiple projects across locations. Manages construction contracts, subcontracts, NDAs, purchase orders, joint venture agreements, rental agreements, and management authority matrices. Assists in change order development, negotiation, and execution with Legal, Sales, and Operations.
Also supports cost controls: bids, estimates, general accounting practices, and financial reporting aligned with contract changes.
Essential Functions- Supports Project Package Managers with subcontract management, change order preparation, negotiation, and cost control.
- Assists Project Commercial Manager in developing Prime Contract Change Order Requests and negotiations.
- Supports financial reporting for the Project to align with Prime Contract and subcontract changes.
- Provides insurance, bond, vendor agreement, and funding source support.
- Coordinates with Legal and Risk Team to advise on contractual risk and mitigation.
- Participates in risk reviews and change management team reviews.
- Provides pre‑claim and claim support to Legal and project managers to prepare and negotiate claims.
- Four-year degree in engineering, construction management, legal studies, business administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 5 years experience in-house for a professional services company, preferably in engineering or construction.
- Minimum 5 years contract management, procurement or project management on construction projects, ideally water infrastructure.
- Proven experience negotiating and creating contracts.
- Experience managing cost and budgets aligned with contract changes.
- Experience executing subcontractor and supplier agreements, ensuring insurance and bond compliance.
- Knowledge of alternative delivery methods (CMAR, DB, CMS, Hard Bid) and applicable terms.
- Strong prioritization, tight deadline management, detail oriented, proactive, independent.
- Excellent writing, grammar, spelling.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; advanced MS Word.
- Experience working for a national commercial construction company or related industry.
- Experience aligning cost reporting with contracting in procurement or project management.
- Experience reporting profit and loss as Project Manager or Assistant PM.
