SummaryQC Technicians are directly responsible for performing tasks of the Food Safety and Quality Departments Quality Control Function. They must meet goals and assist in monitoring work and evaluating results to ensure departmental and organizational objectives and operating requirements are met. QC Technicians are also responsible for holding themselves and others accountable to company policies, procedures, food safety, and OSHA safety requirements.

Essential Functions- Monitor Critical Control Points for compliance with HACCP requirements.
- Monitor production activities, including personnel, for compliance with HACCP and other safety and food safety requirements.
- Record product data, such as manufacturer lot numbers and grower identification.
- Oversee procedures for the release of production equipment.
- Conduct pre‑operational inspections of production areas and equipment.
- Inspect raw and finished product to verify adherence to quality.
- Complete quality and food safety compliance tests, including USDA grading.
- Verify product adherence to identity preservation standards such as Organic, Non‑GMO, and Kosher.
- Verify lab equipment—scales, thermometers.
- Must have open availability to work a flexible schedule when production requires, including ability to work entire shift, extended shift hours, weekends, holidays, and required overtime in accordance with Oregon State laws.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Assist in training new QC Technicians as needed.
This position has no supervisory responsibility but may provide leadership and guidance to volunteers and/or temporary staff and/or assist with orientation of new members of the department.
Necessary Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
- High School Diploma or GED preferred or 1–2 years previous QC experience in the food production industry.
- Basic math.
- Ability to comprehend USDA Grading principles.
- Basic knowledge of food safety.
- Clear understanding of OSHA safety requirements.
- High standards.

QC Techs spend almost all of their time on their feet and moving in a fast‑paced environment. Work is generally performed in a variety of interior operational settings and outdoors, with frequent interruptions and irregularities in the work schedule. Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to walk, stand, sit for prolonged periods; frequently stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, reach, twist, grasp, and make repetitive hand movements;
lift, carry, push, and/or pull moderate to heavy amounts of weight; operate assigned equipment and vehicles; and verbally communicate to exchange information. Employees may be subject to repetitive motion such as typing, data entry, and visual monitoring. Working environments may involve close‑quarter situations, high and precarious places, moving mechanical parts, and vibrations. Exposure to noise, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, noxious odors, gases, mechanical and electrical hazards, and weather and temperature conditions is possible.
