Concrete Crew, Building Maintenance
General Description of Position
Responsible for smoothing out, leveling and finishing freshly poured concrete at job or construction sites. Perform repairs on cured concrete.
Essential functions and responsibilities listed below:
· Set and check the forms that hold concrete to ensure they are well constructed.
· Align forms for sidewalks, curbs, and gutters.
· Direct the casting of the concrete and supervise laborers who use shovels or special tools to spread it.
· Spread, level, and smooth concrete, using rake, shovel, hand or power trowel, hand or power screed, and float.
· Pour concrete ensuring that it is level and smooth.
· Apply hardening and sealing compounds to cure concrete surfaces.
· Monitor how the wind, heat, or cold affect the curing of the concrete throughout the entire process.
· Mix and apply cementitious materials for the repair of surface defects in cured concrete.
· Chip, scrape, and grind high spots, ridges, and rough projections to finish concrete, using pneumatic chisels, power grinders, or hand tools.
· Perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
· When not performing the above essential duties and responsibilities, may assist in other operations as designated by the supervisor.

Specific Equipment and Materials to be used:
Operate power vibrator to compact concrete, pneumatic chisel, saws, power grinder and hand tools
Education
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
Work environment
The work environment and physical demands characteristically described here are representative of those the employee will encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions, cold temperatures and high heat. The employee is frequently exposed to wet conditions; moving mechanical parts; and high and/ or precarious places. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
