Summary of Duties- Engage and supervise staff by planning, executing, monitoring, and evaluating activities related to ODHS and Child Welfare.
- Ensure staff adhere to good social work practices, state and federal laws, and department policies. Continuously review programs and standards affecting the quality, safety, and permanency of children’s lives.
- Provide general training, orientation, mentoring, and consultations to staff.
- Maintain cooperative relationships with staff, community partners, children, and families.
- Make informed decisions regarding the level and type of services provided to client families.
- Review and approve work.
- A bachelor’s degree in human services or a related field and at least two years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related human services experience.
- OR a bachelor’s degree unrelated to human services, completion of coursework equivalent to Oregon Caseworker Competency, and at least two years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience.
- OR an associate degree, at least three years of related experience including two years of lead work or supervision.
- OR an associate degree, completion of coursework equivalent to Oregon Caseworker Competency, and at least two years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience.
- Experience developing and managing a case load or case plan related to safety practice models.
- Experience implementing organizational objectives and ensuring that the necessary quantity and quality of work is achieved.
- Experience supervising and managing a work unit including hiring, training employees, assigning, and reviewing work, providing employees with feedback on their performance, providing oversight of operations, and managing staff performance.
- Experience with project management and continuous quality improvement.
- Experience creating and maintaining a work environment that is respectful, facilitates the development of teams and is a professional model of leadership for staff.
- Experience developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with partners and community members and maintaining them over time.
- Experience supervising a program or policy area that serves vulnerable adults.
- Work locations include offices, participants’ homes, and community sites.
- Occasional travel for meetings, trainings, and case‑related activities, including required overnight travel.
- Regular work week with fluctuating hours; occasional overtime may be needed, including evenings and weekends.
- Rotating on‑call schedule that includes evenings and weekends.
- Physical requirements include frequent activity, lifting up to 50 pounds, and assisting children with car seats.
- Role involves handling sensitive topics related to trauma, abuse, and crises, requiring a trauma‑informed approach to ensure a safe environment.
- Preparedness for stressful situations requiring quick decision‑making to ensure safety for oneself and others.
- Criminal history and background check for finalists; adverse findings may lead to disqualification.
- FBI Criminal Justice Information Services fingerprint‑based check required for finalists.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required.
- Non‑sponsorship of visas; I‑9 form and E‑Verify required within three days of hire.
