The City of Gresham is seeking qualified applicants to fill a Public Utility Worker 2 vacancy in the Transportation Division of the Department of Environmental Services. This position will work in a team environment outdoors in various weather conditions to perform labor intensive activities to maintain and repair the City’s transportation infrastructure. The Transportation Operations crew is overseen by a Transportation Superintendent and consists of 3 Public Works Field Operations Supervisors, 2 Public Utility Worker Seniors, and 19 Public Utility Worker 2’s.

Repair and maintain roadways, bridges and rights-of-way
- Install, maintain, seal, and repair roadways, sidewalks, and bridges.
- Assist in removing damaged road areas for excavation.
- Prepare streets for overlays and slurry seals.
- Patch, fill potholes, pave and sweep.
- Fabricate and install street signs, barricades, traffic control devices and pavement markings.
- Paint traffic markings, dividers, and parking spaces.
- Maintain City lots and rights-of-way to include removal of debris and garbage.
- Mow, spray, pull weeds, and trim vegetation.
- Collect and maintain data of street signs, traffic control devices, pavement markings, and others.
- Control traffic for emergencies and daily tasks.
- Fabricate, install and assure proper placement of street signs, barricades, traffic control devices, and pavement markings.
- Paint traffic markings, dividers, bridges, and parking spaces.
- Maintain City lots and rights-of-way and remove debris and garbage.
- Mow, spray, pull weeks and trim vegetation.
- Operate light to heavy equipment, bucket truck, and commercial vehicles.
- Excavate, form, pour, and finish concrete sidewalks, driveways and ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) ramps.
- Collect and maintain data associated with concrete projects throughout the City of Gresham.
- Backhoes, Excavators, Loaders, Dump trucks, Light-Duty trucks, Bucket trucks, Sweepers, Pavers, Rollers, Welders, Compressors, Mowers, and a wide variety of other hand and power tools.
- Operate light-duty trucks to 10 yard dump trucks with trailers, plows, sanders, and/or de-icers.
- Collect and maintain data.
- May include working nights.
