OLCs operates within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses, and Scope & Standards of Practice. The role leads patient care using the nursing process, delegates and directs licensed and ancillary staff, ensures quality patient outcomes, and aligns with the organization’s strategic goals.
EducationRequired – Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Preferred – Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
Work ExperienceRequired – None.
CertificationsRequired – Current registered nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
Required – Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
Preferred – Certification in a clinical specialty area.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs)- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
- Excellent organizational and time‑management skills.
- Effectively use the nursing process in the delivery of patient care.
- Assess learning needs and implement teaching strategies appropriate for the diverse needs of patients, families, and other disciplines.
- Communicate, delegate, and manage nursing team resources (human and fiscal) properly, and serve as a leader and partner on the interdisciplinary team.
- Use data, information, and knowledge to evaluate and promote change to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Embrace concepts and behaviors that enhance customer satisfaction, employee morale, and the nursing profession.
- Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, including respecting privacy, introducing patients appropriately, explaining services or procedures, and selecting communication style.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
The job requires frequent and occasional lifting of 10–100 pounds, and may involve standing, walking, pushing, or pulling.
