Nurse Practitioner
This role works within a collaborative outpatient clinic model with residents, fellows, attendings, and staff. The Nurse Practitioner reports to the Medical Director or approved staff physician and works alongside PCCs, staff nurses, and discharge coordinators. Responsibilities include primary and urgent medical management, emergency stabilization of critically ill patients, teaching residents and medical students, staff development, patient education, and discharge planning.
Education- Master’s degree in Nursing
- Bachelor’s degree in Physician Assistant Medicine or Health Sciences, or graduate of an approved Physician Assistant Training Program
- Required – None
- Preferred – 3 years of related working experience
- Current license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the state of practice
- Family Nurse Practitioner or Adult/Geriatric Nurse Practitioner certified by ANCC or AANPCP
- Family Nurse Practitioner or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner certified by ANCC or AANPCP
- License as a Physician Assistant in the state of practice and NCCPA certified
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Eligible for prescriptive authority as outlined by the state board of medical examiners or nursing board
- Computer skills for data entry and information retrieval
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for clear professional presentation
- Proficiency with Windows-based applications and related software packages
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Working knowledge of Advanced Practice Provider policies and protocols at department, campus, and system levels
- Reliable transportation for travel among facilities
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including 24/7, weekends, holidays, and on‑call availability
- Utilize the approved medical practice processes in delivery of all patient care
- Provide care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety and other criteria appropriate to patient age and assigned area
- Maintain an inquiry attitude toward medical practices and outcomes, and may develop research methodology
- Provide education to patient families, staff, health professionals, and the community
- Adapt behavior to specific patient populations, respecting privacy, introduction methods, service explanations, permissions, and communication style
- Perform other related duties as required
Medium work: occasional lifting of 20–50 pounds, frequent lifting of 10–25 pounds, and intermittent lifting of up to 10 pounds continually. Requires walking or standing for significant periods, sitting most of the time with occasional pushing and pulling, and a production pace requiring constant movement. Must stand for prolonged periods, stoop, bend, reach, and have manual dexterity. Duties involve exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissues, and potential risk of exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous medications or waste.
