Armed Security Officer -Ochsner West Bank

Job Overview

This is a security position that protects patients, guests, and employees on assigned areas of the organization. The role enforces company policies, performs inspections, investigates incidents, and supports emergency response.

• High School diploma or equivalent (required).
• One year of experience in security, law enforcement, or military (required).

• Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (required).
• Valid driver’s license in the state of practice with a clean DMV report (required).
• Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) and firearms training (required).
• International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) certification, to be obtained within 90 days of promotion or hire (required).
• Successful completion of the FTO program within the first 60 days of employment (required).

• Computer skills for data entry and information retrieval.
• Proficiency with Windows applications and keyboard use.
• Effective verbal and written communication at all levels.
• Ability to report for duty during disaster events.
• Reading, writing, and speaking in English.
• Capacity to walk the entire company property, including the 11‑floor structure and surrounding areas.

• Enforce all safety and security rules, regulations, and policies.
• Conduct routine inspections of on-site and off-site locations.
• Investigate accidents and incidents and report them promptly.
• Perform opening, lockdown, and other security procedures as approved.
• Participate in emergency response and preparedness drills.
• Maintain required certifications and complete training on schedule.
• Adapt interactions to patient privacy and communication needs.
• Perform additional related duties as required.

Medium work involving intermittent lifting of 20 to 50 pounds and frequent lifting of 10 to 25 pounds. The role requires walking and standing for the majority of the shift, with occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, communicable diseases, hazardous medications, and hazardous waste.
