HVAC Estimator

The job of an HVAC estimator entails understanding complex system designs, performing detailed calculations, and staying up to date on the latest industry trends in order to make informed decisions about material choices and pricing estimates. They must possess strong analytical skills as well as excellent communication skills to effectively communicate technical information to clients.

• Establish and maintain relationships with vendors and contractors
• Collect and evaluate quotations from vendors and subcontractors
• Prepare estimates and purchase orders in detail for all products
• Review mechanical drawings for incoming quote requests
• Understand scope of HVAC work to bid
• Prepare job take offs

• Knowledge of commercial HVAC / Mechanical Contracting
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Able to explain technical concepts to non-technical people
• Ability to negotiate effectively
• Strong organizational skills, flexibility and ability to prioritize work assignments
• Ability to develop budgets and time lines
• Multi-tasker and organized
• Great customer service and a team attitude
• Detail oriented
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in HVAC estimating
• Works well independently or in a team environment
• Self-starter with strong work ethic
• Knowledgeable in building and construction
