Responsibilities
- Develop an understanding of the specific mechanical engineering requirements per project.
- Study and become familiar with elementary system drawings, conveyor manifests, and engineering hour estimates.
- Assess project contract requirements and options.
- Provide technical interface with the customer’s project representative(s).
- Define the project scope and manage contract change orders.
- Review customer specifications and standards, and conduct 3D model reviews.
- Develop and maintain a mechanical engineering schedule that supports a timely installation schedule.
- Interpret and manage clarifications and exceptions in project contract documents.
- Execute the project within the budget and hours specified in the contract estimate.
- Provide technical support for vendors, field installation personnel, and engineering subcontractors.
- Host and support weekly meetings with the project team and customers.
- Delegate and monitor tasks to engineering team members on a regular cadence.
- Apply general knowledge of conveying systems, equipment, and customer general specifications to maintain project‑specific requirements.
- Ensure compliance with customer specifications.
- Communicate project information with other MHS departments, including project management, purchasing, electrical engineering, field installation, and fabrication.
- Release drawings for installation and fabrication.
- Create material purchase requests.
- Document changes to the scope of work for the project as they occur.
- Provide regular status updates to engineering management.
- Identify areas for professional development, cost reduction, quality improvements, and enhanced customer service.
- Check drawings provided by mechanical designers for accuracy and provide feedback for corrections as needed.
- Perform or assist in directing engineering analysis in disciplines such as structural, mechanical power transmission, and fluid power.

- Is familiar with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel) and, preferably, Microsoft Project.
- Has experience with AutoCAD, Inventor, Navisworks, and BIM.
- Displays knowledge of power transmission equipment and steel fabrication.
Three to five years of material handling equipment experience, preferably within the conveyor systems industry; experience executing and supporting medium to large projects; a bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent mechanical engineering and design experience; and availability for up to 10% domestic travel.
Travel RequirementsSome domestic travel required (+/−10%) depending on project needs and urgency.
