Job Summary:

The Mortgage Loan Processor is responsible for supporting the mortgage lending process from application through closing by ensuring loan files are complete, accurate, and compliant with applicable regulations and investor guidelines. This position works closely with mortgage loan officers, borrowers, underwriters, appraisers, title companies, and other third parties to facilitate a smooth and timely loan process while providing exceptional customer service.

General Description/Duties:

  • Review residential mortgage loan applications for completeness and accuracy and ensure required information is entered and maintained within the loan origination system (LOS).
  • Establish and maintain mortgage loan files in accordance with Bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collect, review, and verify supporting documentation, including income, asset, employment, insurance, and other required borrower information.
  • Prepare, deliver, and track required disclosures and documentation within regulatory time frames and in compliance with applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Order and monitor third-party services, including appraisals, title commitments, flood determinations, verification requests, payoff statements, and homeowner’s insurance documentation.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for borrowers and other parties throughout the loan process, providing timely updates and responding to requests for information.
  • Coordinate with mortgage loan officers, underwriters, closing agents, attorneys, appraisers, and title companies to facilitate the timely processing and closing of mortgage loans.
  • Monitor loan pipeline status and proactively follow up on outstanding conditions, documentation, and deadlines to ensure efficient loan processing.
  • Review loan files for completeness and quality prior to submission for underwriting and prior to closing.
  • Assist in resolving documentation deficiencies and obtaining additional information required for underwriting approval and closing.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with bank policies, investor requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Stay informed of changes in mortgage lending regulations, compliance requirements, industry practices, and technology.
  • Maintain confidentiality of customer information and adhere to all bank security and privacy standards.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and provide exceptional service consistent with the Bank’s commitment to relationship banking and community service.
  • Comply with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations, including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML) requirements, Fair Lending regulations, and information security policies.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or relevant mortgage banking experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in mortgage lending, loan processing, banking operations, or customer service is preferred but not required.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple loan files and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with customers, coworkers, and third-party vendors.
  • Working knowledge of mortgage lending processes and documentation preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and loan origination systems.
  • Ability to analyze information, solve problems, and exercise sound judgment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as needed to meet business demands.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and use a computer workstation for extended periods.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and electronically.
