The Assistant Golf Shop Manager supports daily Golf Shop operations by supervising staff, managing inventory and financial processes, coordinating tournaments and events, administering memberships, and delivering exceptional customer service. This position also supports marketing and revenue-generating initiatives while serving as acting Golf Shop General Manager in the Manager's absence.
Essential duties include the following.
- Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate standard office equipment.
- Must have the visual ability to observe and detect dangerous obstacles, other vehicles or equipment, people on the course and course conditions.
- May be exposed to noise, machinery with moving parts, dust, dirt, grease.
- Work will be performed in all forms of weather that may be very hot, cold, extreme or inclement.
- Work will frequently require standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling, and lifting to 50 pounds is required.
- Must have clear written and verbal communication skills to be able to interact professionally and build good working relationships with others.
- Must have good judgement and the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations remaining helpful and pleasant at all times.
- Must have a professional appearance, positive demeanor, and treat others with dignity and respect responding promptly to their needs.
- Must have the ability to multi-task multiple projects or issues simultaneously and meet firm deadlines, prioritizing as necessary.
- Must be proficient in typing and the use of computers and general computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel and email.
- Must have knowledge of golf course operations and industry best practices.
- Must have strong leadership, organizational, interpersonal, relationship-building, and administrative skills.
- Must be able to accurately handle cash, reconcile transactions, perform inventory counts, maintain financial and inventory records, and ensure operational accountability.
- Must have the ability to plan, organize, prioritize, coordinate staff, and manage multiple priorities.
- Must be self-motivated, independent, and reliable with a strong work ethic.
- Must be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience operating a Point-of-Sale (POS) system.
- Two years of golf or retail operations experience.
- Two years of supervisory or management experience.
- Two years of tournament operations experience required.
- Valid State of Georgia driver’s license, acceptable driving history, and the ability to drive a vehicle as needed.
*** Requires a flexible work schedule based on seasonal daylight hours and operational needs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. This position operates on a 3/2 rotating schedule.***
*** Though infrequent, in the case of an extreme event or emergency maintenance, employee will be required to report back to work. This may be after regular working hours to include nights, weekends, and holiday***
