Emerald Transportation Solutions is looking for a Master Scheduler who would be responsible for developing, maintaining, and executing the company's Master Production Schedule (MPS) to ensure customer orders are completed on time while maximizing manufacturing efficiency and resource utilization. This role serves as the central planning function for the organization by coordinating production schedules, capacity planning, labor availability, material readiness, and customer demand.

The Master Scheduler partners closely with Sales, Operations, Engineering, Procurement, Inventory Control, and Manufacturing to develop realistic production plans that support company goals while minimizing disruptions to production.

Production Scheduling
  • Develop and maintain the Master Production Schedule (MPS) based on customer demand, sales forecasts, backlog, production capacity, and available resources.
  • Schedule production orders to maximize throughput while meeting customer delivery commitments.
  • Balance production workloads across multiple manufacturing departments.
  • Monitor daily production performance and adjust schedules to address labor constraints, engineering changes, equipment downtime, and material availability.
  • Establish production priorities to meet changing business needs.
  • Ensure schedule integrity and minimize unnecessary schedule changes.
Capacity Planning
  • Analyze manufacturing capacity, labor resources, equipment availability, and production constraints.
  • Develop production plans that maximize efficiency while maintaining realistic workloads.
  • Identify bottlenecks and recommend corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with Operations to improve production flow and resource utilization.
  • Support long-range production planning and future capacity requirements.
Demand Planning
  • Review customer orders, forecasts, backlog, and production requirements.
  • Develop production schedules that align with customer demand and business objectives.
  • Evaluate schedule risks and communicate potential impacts to leadership.
  • Assist in developing production forecasts based on anticipated business volume.
ERP / MRP Management
  • Maintain accurate production planning data within the ERP/MRP system.
  • Review and validate lead times, and planning parameters.
  • Release production work orders according to the Master Production Schedule.
  • Monitor schedule adherence using ERP-generated reports.
  • Ensure planning data remains accurate and up to date.
Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Collaborate daily with Operations, Sales, Procurement, Engineering, Inventory Control, Shipping, and Manufacturing.
  • Coordinate production schedule changes resulting from customer priorities, engineering revisions, or operational constraints.
  • Communicate schedule updates and production priorities to department leaders.
  • Participate in daily production meetings and weekly planning meetings.
  • Production Downtime Due to Scheduling Conflicts
  • ERP Planning Accuracy
Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.

APICS CPIM, CSCP, or equivalent professional certification is highly desirable.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5–7 years of production planning or master scheduling experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience creating and managing Master Production Schedules.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, production flow, and capacity planning.
