Minimum Qualifications
Position Summary The technician will evaluate the microbial load on various surfaces of modified blueberry machine harvesters and determine the antimicrobial activities of extracts from citrus wastes.
Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position
Ph.D. in food safety or food microbiology and 5 years of experience working in microbiology laboratories.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
Knowledge in foodborne pathogens and spoilage microorganisms; routine microbiological and chemical analytic skills; sufficient trainings for working in Level II biosafety laboratories.
Physical Demands
Prolonged standing or sitting; frequent reaching and bending; tolerance to PPE , operate microbiological and chemical analytic equipment, visualize color differences, and lift 20-40 lbs.
