Job Summary
The CDL Driver/Forklift Operator supports warehouse operations by safely moving trailers, loading and unloading materials, and maintaining an efficient workflow. Key duties include operating tractor-trailers and dock equipment, performing receiving tasks, and following all company safety, GMP, and HACCP policies. The role requires a valid Class A CDL, completion of DOT‑required inspections, daily equipment safety checks, and prompt reporting of any issues.
This position requires strong problem‑solving abilities, basic math and language skills, and the ability to operate forklifts and material‑handling equipment. A high school diploma or GED is preferred, along with two years of CDL driving experience. The role involves physical demands such as lifting up to 50 pounds and working around moving machinery while wearing required PPE. Work occurs in warehouse and outdoor environments with exposure to noise, weather conditions, and shifting priorities.
EssentialFunctions
- Decision‑Making Authority: makes routine operational decisions related to trailer movement, equipment safety checks, and material handling tasks. Escalates non‑standard issues or safety concerns to the Warehouse Manager.
- Functional Dimensions:
- Operational Impact: contributes directly to warehouse flow, trailer coordination, and timely receiving processes.
- Financial Impact: supports cost efficiency by reducing delays, minimizing equipment downtime through accurate inspections, and preventing material handling errors.
- Safety Impact: plays a key role in maintaining a safe environment through required pre‑trip inspections, adherence to safety procedures, and consistent use of PPE.
- Safe Vehicle Operation: responsibly operates tractor/trailer equipment, performs daily safety inspections, completes DOT‑required documentation, and reports mechanical or safety issues promptly.
- Efficient Trailer and Material Movement: accounts for moving trailers in the yard and at docks, loading and unloading, and maintaining an organized workflow to support warehouse operations.
- Receiving and Material Handling: ensures accurate receiving of raw materials and performs picking, dock, and receiving responsibilities while operating forklifts and material‑handling equipment safely.
- Compliance With Safety, GMP, and HACCP Policies: adheres to all company safety standards, uses required PPE, and maintains high awareness when working around moving machinery or electrical equipment.
- Documentation and Communication: completes necessary reports, inspections, and routine written communication accurately and clearly; communicates effectively with coworkers and supervisors.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid Class A CDL.
- Preferably two years of CDL driving experience.
