To receive, sort, price, tag, and stock donations, keeping the flow of donations moving quickly from drive‑thru to the sales floor, and to generally aid in the smooth operation of a fast‑paced retail store. This position reports to the Store Manager and/or Production Manager who evaluates performance annually. Additionally, the employee understands the Goodwill Mission and embodies our Core Values.
Essential Job Functions- Sort, price, and tag donated textiles at a minimum rate of 80 pieces per hour (PPH), maintaining quality standards.
- Retrieve Textile Production Sheet at the beginning of each shift and submit upon completion.
- Transport carts containing items to be processed.
- Process donations promptly and dispose of trash in designated True Trash receptacles as needed.
- Organize racks for efficient stocking.
- Record daily PPH for tracking purposes; failure to record may affect pay rate.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- “Z‑racks” are considered 100 pieces per rack.
- Training Level: Below 80 PPH – starting rate at $11 per hour. Employee has 4 weeks to reach 80 PPH; coaching and support offered if not reached. If 80 PPH is not met within 8 weeks and no qualifying openings exist, termination may be considered.
- Level 2: 80–90 PPH – $15 per hour upon first reaching 80 PPH.
- Level 3 (High Performers): 91–110 PPH – $16 per hour (requires a 3‑week average of at least 91 before pay change is effective).
- Level 4 (High Performers): 111–130+ PPH – $17 per hour (requires a 3‑week average of at least 111 before pay change is effective).
- Maintaining PPH is required to retain high‑performer pay levels. Falling below triggers a three‑week improvement period; failure may lead to performance discussions and pay adjustments.
- Adherence to standard retail practices and dress code.
- Familiarity with current clothing, shoe styles, furniture, toys, brand names, etc.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
- Ability to make quick and accurate decisions.
- Tactful communication with the public and co‑workers.
- Flexibility to work varying schedules and availability.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
- Physical ability: bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, reaching above shoulder level, crouching or stooping, kneeling, repeated use of feet, twisting or static head/neck motion, looking up or down, and lifting or moving up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to utilize light industrial equipment including:
- Tagging gun, stickers, tags, standard office supplies.
- Pallet stacker, pallet jack.
- Compactor (must be 18 to operate).
