Our client, a rapidly expanding Group Training Association, is currently seeking a Department Team Leader for Fabrication and Welding to join their team in Hull / Grimsby. As a leading provider of engineering training, they collaborate with over 300 client companies, delivering Level 3 engineering apprenticeships and upskilling programmes. This role offers a dynamic and rewarding work environment where you will have the opportunity to inspire the next generation of engineers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Developing and updating the curriculum to meet industry standards.
  • Leading the delivery of courses, including apprenticeships and commercial training in fabrication and welding trades such as Metal Fabricator, Pipe Welder, and Pipefitter.
  • Ensuring the team follows the agreed syllabus and that schemes of work and lesson plans are created and followed.
  • Planning the delivery of all fabrication and welding programmes across various sites.
  • Ensuring the quality and consistency of educational delivery meets organisational standards.
  • Conducting learning walks, teaching, and learning observations, as well as deep dives in conjunction with the quality team.
  • Managing the daily operation of workshops, ensuring compliance with Health & Safety regulations.
  • Assisting Centre Managers with team performance management, appraisals, and professional development.
Job Requirements
  • Significant industry experience in fabrication and welding with knowledge of welding, pipe fitting, plating, and sheet metal work.
  • Level 3 qualification or recognised apprenticeship in a relevant fabrication / welding trade and a recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, DTLLS, Cert Ed).
  • Desirable but not essential:
    Assessor and Verifier qualifications (training provided).
  • Desirable but not essential:
    Certified TWI coded weld inspector / trainer (training provided).
  • Strong leadership, budget management, and IT skills.
  • Willingness to undertake additional qualifications if required (cost met by the company).
  • Valid driving licence and access to own transport for regular travel between centres. Mileage and bridge tolls covered.
  • Commitment to undergoing a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check due to safeguarding requirements.
