Under the direction of the Associate Director of Campus Safety, the Campus Safety Officer supports the College's safety and security operations by helping maintain a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The officer accomplishesthis by patrolling and monitoring College property, responding tocalls for service, and taking appropriate action to address safetyand security concerns.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Patrol campus on foot and by vehicle to maintain a safe andsecure environment, monitor facilities and grounds, control access,and respond to emergencies, incidents, and calls for service.
  • Monitor security, life safety, surveillance, alarm, and access control systems; dispatch appropriate emergency and public safetyresources; and coordinate communications with campus departments and external public safety agencies.
  • Provide professional customer service by assisting students,employees, visitors, and vendors, answering questions, resolving concerns, and supporting College operations.
  • Enforce College policies and applicable laws by addressingsafety and security concerns, investigating incidents, documenting findings, and preparing accurate reports.
  • Inspect and monitor security equipment and facilities, identify hazards or maintenance concerns, and report or coordinatecorrective actions to help ensure the safety and security of thecampus.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • One year or more of work experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability towrite effective and concise reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to be customer service oriented, with the ability to interact with all levels of individuals within the organization and general public in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, successfully handleand prioritize multiple competing assignments, and effectively manage deadlines.
  • Professional, articulate, and able to use good independent judgment and discretion.
  • The ability to attain and maintain the same level of training as required for a Campus Safety Officer.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and make decisions in difficult and crisis type situations
Preferred Qualifications
  • First Aid certification, including CPR and defibrillationtraining
