The selected candidate will be responsible for providing an educational atmosphere where students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and psychological growth. This person will also be responsible for organizing and implementing an instructional program that will result in students achieving academic success in accordance with GPPSS policies, goals and objectives.

• Valid Michigan Secondary Level Teaching Certificate
• Science endorsement (6-12 or 6-8) and Highly Qualified status required
• Significant experience and/or coursework in related fields
• Related academic endorsements preferred

• Implement and instruct established Grosse Pointe Curriculum
• Include culturally diverse themes in lessons and instruction
• Implement instructional activities that promote a climate of meaningful learning
• Identify, select, and modify instructional resources to meet diverse student needs
• Assist in assessing changing curricular needs and propose improvement plans
• Maintain effective record‑keeping procedures
• Provide a positive environment encouraging active engagement
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and professionals
• Collaborate with peers to enhance the instructional environment
• Model professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and community
• Ensure continuous and appropriate student growth and achievement
• Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with students, parents, schools
• Assume responsibility for meeting course and school‑wide student performance goals
• Demonstrate gains in student performance
• Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits (meet deadlines, honor schedules, coordinate)
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

• Prolonged standing and walking throughout school and classroom
• Ability to lift up to 45 pounds
• Assist students with physical difficulties
• Occasional bending, kneeling, sitting, standing, and climbing stairs
• Prolonged sitting and working on computer to complete paperwork

Salary based on the GPEA CBA; may or may not recognize previous professional teaching experience. Eligible for comprehensive benefits including health, dental, vision, life and long‑term disability insurance. Membership in the Michigan Public Schools Employee Retirement System.
