Regional Early Intervention/Preschool coaches will work collaboratively with district staff to improve the educational outcomes of young children with autism by supporting the implementation of best practices and universal supports in home and school environments. This capacity‑building proactive approach will provide districts with the support necessary to positively impact student achievement in all areas.

Qualifications- Master's Degree required
- Michigan teaching certificate with an endorsement in Autism Spectrum Disorder (SV); or school social worker, speech pathologist, or school psychologist with extensive experience working with students on the autism spectrum in an ASD center or separate facility program and an inclusive environment.
- Special Education and Early Childhood endorsement (ZS) or extensive experience working with early intervention and preschool students required.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience working with ASD programs required. START and PBIS training preferred.
- Work closely with district staff to improve outcomes for students with autism by building capacity and implementing evidence‑based practices across the Early Intervention/Preschool LRE continuum:
- 0‑3 Early Intervention programs
- 3‑5 General education and special education preschool programs
- Support the transition of early intervention students into part
B. - Support evaluation and IEP teams with ASD eligibility, LRE determinations, and other programming decisions.
- Provide support, guidance, and professional development to district staff and administration regarding best practices, universal supports, and learning resources, including the appropriate use of visual, communication, academic, behavioral, and environmental accommodations or modifications:
- Identify critical learning goals to support communication, social, and behavior skills.
- Design and maintain classroom structures that provide engaging and motivating learning activities to improve academic, communication, social, and behavior management skills.
- Implement essential components of an instructional program for students with ASD, including predictability and structure, functional analysis of behaviors, development of behavior intervention plans, and systematic data monitoring.
- Provide guidance and support to ASD center programs regarding the implementation of ACT 18 entrance and exit criteria and procedures.
- Provide guidance and implementation strategies for utilizing IP support and support the development and implementation of Peer‑to‑Peer programs in all preschool environments.
- Support the implementation of PBIS, including the development and implementation of classroom management plans, FBAs, and BIPs.
- Provide information and resources to parents and/or guardians regarding home support and structure.
- Actively participate as a member of the Wayne County ASD Support Team and Wayne Regional Autism Collaborative for Excellence (WRACE) team.
- Prolonged periods standing and walking throughout school and classroom.
- Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds at a time.
- Must be able to assist students who have physical difficulties.
- Occasional bending, kneeling, sitting, standing, and climbing stairs.
- Prolonged periods sitting and working on the computer to complete necessary paperwork.
Salary is based on the GPEA CBA and may or may not recognize previous professional teaching experience.
