We are seeking a compassionate Radiation Therapist to join our dedicated oncology team at the Ven Elslander Cancer Center in Grosse Pointe. Our practice is equipped with advanced technologies including a GE CT Simulator, Varian True Beam Linear Accelerator with Identify, and the Varian Ethos Adaptive Therapy System. We provide a collaborative environment focused on delivering high-quality patient care with a multidisciplinary support system.
Key Responsibilities:- Deliver radiation therapy treatments as prescribed by Radiation Oncologists with a strong emphasis on patient safety and accuracy.
- Operate and maintain equipment including GE CT Simulator, True Beam, and Ethos systems.
- Collaborate with physicians, dosimetrists, medical physicists, and nursing staff to ensure seamless patient care.
- Communicate clearly and empathetically with patients, families, and team members.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain accurate patient records in ARIA.
- Participate in quality assurance activities and continuous learning initiatives.
- Graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy program.
- Certified and licensed by ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists).
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
- Proficiency in ARIA radiation oncology software.
- Experience with advanced technologies including True Beam and Ethos preferred.
- Demonstrate empathy and patient-centered care in every interaction.
- Be safety-conscious and attentive to detail.
- Show eagerness to learn and grow with emerging technologies.
- Work collaboratively in a team of therapists, nurses, and three radiation oncologists.
- Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Summary:
- Administers radiation therapy by exposing specific areas of the patient's body to prescribed doses of radiation.
- Prepares and positions patients and selects anatomic parameters accurately.
- Delivers appropriate patient treatment plan in collaboration with physician and dosimetrist.
- Maintains detailed records of all therapy sessions.
- Maintains and adjusts necessary equipment, including linear accelerator.
- Positions patients and selects anatomic and technical parameters accurately.
- Ensures all activities comply with regulatory agency standards.
- Ensures prompt submission of high-quality of all images and documents sent to PACS (image quality, correct lead markers and patient data/history).
- Assists in maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly department to include procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, film storage area and any other areas in department.
