About This UnitThe 39‑bed Critical Care Step‑Down Unit (CCSU) provides patient‑ and family‑centered care to individuals with complex medical conditions, including pulmonary, cardiac, and neurological disorders, post‑operative surgical patients, and ventilated patients with tracheostomies. All staff complete hospital and nursing orientation followed by unit‑specific training to establish core competencies.
Scope of WorkThe Clinical Nurse Manager is an experienced leader responsible for the overall management of the unit and its services. The role provides leadership and oversight of patient‑care staff to support excellence in clinical practice, staff engagement, recruitment and retention, and strong clinical and operational outcomes. The Nurse Manager ensures safe and effective delivery of care while maintaining compliance with regulatory, administrative, and clinical standards.
Leveraging data, technology, and evidence‑based practices, the manager drives decision‑making and proactively mitigates risk. The position reports to the Director of Nursing or higher.
- Promote high‑quality nursing care and patient‑and‑family‑centered culture.

- Lead the unit with 24‑hour accountability and effective communication with physicians, staff, patients, and interdisciplinary partners.
- BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing).
- Minimum of three (3) years of clinical nursing experience.
- MI Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- One year of formal nursing leadership experience (external candidates).
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN).
- Two years of demonstrated informal leadership experience for internal candidates (e.g., Charge Nurse, Lead Nurse, participation in Shared Governance Councils).

Full‑time position, scheduled 40 hours per week, 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with variable weekend coverage.
