This program aims to provide participants with the necessary skills, knowledge, and experiences to become future leaders in shipyard operations.

Job Summary:

As a participant in our Shipyard Operations Leadership Program, you will undergo a comprehensive training and career development program designed to enhance your leadership abilities and technical skills. You will work closely with experienced professionals and engage in various projects and initiatives to gain hands‑on experience in operations and directly on submarines. Each candidate will participate various rotations, the first being trade training at one of our offsite facilities, in which the participant has the opportunity to learn and perform a trade.

The next rotations are taking on the role of Operations Supervisor leading a trade in our Groton, CT shipyard or our Quonset Point, RI manufacturing facility.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate actively in all aspects of the Leadership Program, including training sessions, workshops, and team‑building activities.
  • Lead the activities of approximately 3 to 20 trade employees in the performance of preparing, assembling and installing equipment onboard submarines.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to gain exposure as the Primary point of contact to interface with Engineering, Ships' Management, Quality and other trade departments and understand the interdependencies between them.
  • Embrace and promote a culture of safety, quality, and process improvement.
  • Assist in the planning, execution, and evaluation of engineering projects, ensuring adherence to quality standards and project timelines.
  • Develop and implement innovative solutions to challenges, leveraging your technical knowledge and problem‑solving skills.
  • Engage in continuous learning and professional development activities to stay updated with the latest advancements in manufacturing operations field.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, stakeholders, and stakeholders to ensure clear understanding of project requirements and deliverables.
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities by taking initiative, motivating team members, and providing guidance and support when needed.
  • Assign work, provide technical expertise, instruction, developmental guidance, motivation and performance assessment of your employee(s) while working aboard submarines under construction and repair.
  • Lead self‑assessment audits, commit to schedules and maintain product quality.
  • Attend to various administrative responsibility, such as LMS, Quality documentation, work completion documentation, etc.
  • Must be willing to work all shifts and travel between sites, as required.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or International Maritime Business
  • Recent graduate or up to 5 years of professional experience in an engineering role.
  • Experience in leadership across employment, internships or student organizations.
