Mechanical Engineer II Overview
Engineers will support design, test, and construction efforts for the LOS ANGELES, OHIO, SEAWOLF, VIRGINIA and COLUMBIA Classes of Submarines.
This area supports all of Engineering with subject matter expertise for shock and vibration qualification of submarine systems, components and equipment.
Responsible for coordinating and tracking the shock qualification of equipment in all classes of submarines. These efforts include performing standard mechanical stress calculations and comparisons of material properties to demonstrate shock resistance of equipment; conducting reviews of installation drawings, detailed drawings, shock test procedures and test reports; and providing test support at Electric Boat, Vendor and Sub-contractor facilities.
Qualifications Required:- BS/MS in Mechanical or Marine engineering
- 2-5 years of postgraduate engineering experience
- Willingness to work nights or weekends when needed to support schedules
- Position may require travel
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience writing and reviewing technical correspondence
- Experience with Military specifications and qualification programs
- Candidate must possess strong interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Candidate must be highly organized and be able to work multiple tasks concurrently.
- Candidate must be highly motivated, perform independently, as well as interact with other groups and organizations in an engineering environment.
