Research Scientist, Software Engineer
Job Title
Agent for ensuring the proper functioning of the 3 ExTrA telescopes (Chile). Coordination with Xavier Bonfils (IPAG) for programming observation targets, reducing observation data, and providing a reliable diagnosis in case of failure.
Contribution to the selection of targets for the ASTEP telescope in Antarctica, under the supervision of Tristan Guillot (OCA, Lagrange) and in coordination with the ASTEP consortium. Creation and maintenance of an updated database of planets in dynamic interaction with other planets and characterized by variations in transit times.
Analysis of transiting and dynamically interacting multi-planetary systems. Obtaining additional constraints on the masses of these planets and predicting their transit times. Transits of planets can thus be reliably observed by large space and ground instruments.
Required ProfileKnowledge required:
Holder of a thesis in astronomy or equivalent, must know both operationally and software-wise the functioning of the ExTrA telescopes. Must have precise knowledge of photodynamic models for analyzing data (especially photometric) of transiting multi-planetary systems.
Training and/or professional experience:
Minimum 5 years of experience in the field.
- Level 8 Doctorate/equivalent degrees
The agent must have solid skills in observational astronomy, data processing, and dynamic analysis of gravitationally interacting planetary systems. Good command of English is indispensable. Must show the ability to work in a team in an international environment.
Languages- English Mastery
Remuneration based on the public service scale for Research Engineers, variable according to experience.
