Duties
* You will serve as a a Branch Head and have management and final technical responsibility for all functions under the branch cognizance.
* You will work closely with the Chief Engineer, other Engineering Managers and Program Office Managers to assure consistency and continuity in the overall approach to submarine design, construction and supporting requirements.
* You will act as the SUPSHIP technical expert for matters generally relating to submarine naval architecture, structure and acoustics during design, construction, and repair of submarines.
* You will have demonstrated knowledge of underwater acoustics and how it relates to submarine operation, including trim and dive, including structure borne and airborne noise, vibration and acoustic emission.
* You will establish and maintain working relationships with personnel and activities including higher authority;
Contractor Managers, NAVSEA/PMS Program Managers to effectively accomplish the Department and Command mission.
* You will conduct conferences and meetings with individuals of other agencies and organizations to reach agreement on the issues of major interest to the SUPSHIP Groton.
* You will provide supervision to include guidance on technical and administrative matters, identifying developmental training needs, balancing workload to meet critical/emergent requirements, and assigning work to subordinates based on priorities. Requirements Conditions of employment

* You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
* This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the
Functional Area
and Tier assigned to the position, along with Continuous Learning (CL) points, are required within established time frames.
* Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR . Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NH-02 pay band (or GS-11 equivalent) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional engineer applying architectural analysis to submarine structures or acoustics to support design, construction, conversion or repair of ships or submarines.
