Certified Peer Recovery Coach

Job Summary
This position is a full‑time Certified Peer Recovery Coach at Stonington Institute, a division of Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS). The primary role is to provide clinically-based peer support to clients residing at The Inn at Trails Corner, helping them create individualized recovery paths through individual and group sessions. The coach will familiarize themselves with community-based resources to assist clients with after‑care planning, engage in recovery-based activities, conduct discharge planning from partial hospitalization/individual outpatient programs, and routinely collect and enter data related to treatment eligibility.

The role requires collaboration with clinicians, care coordinators, family/supports, and community agencies to increase clients’ recovery skills and link them to continuing care resources. This is a part‑time, 24‑hour position.

Responsibilities
  • Provide peer support to residents at The Inn at Trails Corner.
  • Facilitate individual and group recovery sessions.
  • Assist clients in accessing community resources and after‑care services.
  • Collect and enter treatment data accurately and timely.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary treatment team to advocate for clients.
  • Support discharge planning from PHP/IOP programs.
Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of recovery skills such as relapse prevention and coping strategies.
  • Knowledge of community resources, particularly outpatient and MAT/MOUD programs.
  • Problem‑solving and critical thinking abilities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage independent tasks and prioritize client and programmatic responsibilities.
  • Ability to manage high‑stress situations.
  • Ability to manage performance measures related to client outcomes.
  • Recognition of the importance of family, social networks, community systems, and self‑help groups in treatment and recovery.
  • Understanding of diverse cultures and inclusion of culturally diverse groups and people with disabilities.
  • Understanding of an interdisciplinary approach to addiction and mental health treatment.
  • Knowledge of insurance and health‑maintenance options to help clients access benefits.
  • Judgment, leadership, and teaching/group facilitation skills in the field of alcoholism, drug misuse, behavioral, mental health, and trauma.
  • Proficiency with Office 365 and other technology equipment.

Qualifications

Current Connecticut certification for Certified Peers through one of the state-approved certification boards.
