Chief of Medical

Overview

Supervisory position requires direct support and supervision of clinical support staff for occupational health clinic reporting to the Manager of Occupational Health and Audiology.

Manages daily operations of the occupational health clinic under the direction of the Manager of Occupational Health & Audiology. In collaboration with the medical leadership team, reviews policies and procedures and provides ongoing training to the clinical support staff. Manages staffing schedule for the clinic. Ensures that all medical records and privacy standards are followed. Orient and train new staff members

Liaisons with the Employee Assistance Program, Workers Compensation Facilitator, Benefits office and local physicians. Responsible for medical and emergency protocols including infection control and blood borne pathogen issues. Must be capable and responsible with program management ofOSHA Medical Surveillance, Marine Evaluations, Travel, and Off-Site Monitoring.

Staggered start and end times to interact with all staff. Flexibility in scheduling to meet clinic operation needs.

• Supervise daily operations of the clinic
• Manage clinic support staff and complete performance reviews
• Mentors support staff and participate in education and clinical competencies
• Provides health education information and training
• Assists in creation of written procedures and policies
• Oversees clinic supplies, inventory, and annual calibrations
• Manage time approval for all clinic staff
• Clinic role on an as needed basis to fill in position as license dictates
• Provide clinic organizational strategies to include workflows, scheduling algorithms, and standing orders.
• Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree with a medical-adjacent background
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, medical assisting, OR a graduate of an accredited program for nurse practitioners, including preceptorship OR a graduate from a physician assistant training program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education of the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)
• Certification by the applicable professional organization
• Experience with an electronic medical record
• 2+ years of supervisory experience
• 5+ years of experience in a medical setting

• Experience driving organizational performance with metric-based results
• Must possess good communication skills, written and verbal, and the ability to work well with a variety of people
• Ability to prioritize and solve problems
• Ability to maintain sensitivity and objectivity to chronic medical and social problems
• Ability to relate well to co-workers, management, and employees
• Ability to set realistic, measurable goals
• Utilization of available community resources where applicable
• Ability to develop and provide individualized and group counseling, guidance, and health instruction with a focus on disease prevention and health maintenance
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Software and basic computer maneuverability
• Must possess a professional attitude and be willing to complete all clinical as well as administrative assignments
• Ability to develop and mentor low and high performers
• Experience in corporate and medical structure
