Position: AIRCRAFT PROPELLER MECHANIC (Title 32) with Security Clearance
Duties

JOB SUMMARY:

The primary purpose of the position is to ensure aircraft of the region are ready and available to support Federal and State missions. In addition, the AVCRAD/TASMG performs National Maintenance Program (NMP) repair of rotary wing aircraft and components, limited depot airframe repair, aircraft painting, major airframe repair, depot-level component repair, and component repair and management, as directed by Army Materiel Command (AMC), and prioritized by the National Guard Bureau (NGB).

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Connecticut Army National Guard. The major duties include, but are not limited to:
* Tests and troubleshoots aircraft rotor and/or propeller systems using special tools and test equipment.
* Performs troubleshooting of the powertrain systems using special tools and test equipment, diagnoses any system malfunctions and makes necessary repairs.
* Subjects rotor, propeller, and powertrain parts to a variety of nondestructive testing to identify imperfections not otherwise detected.
* Utilizing power hoists, special slings and balancing equipment, aligns and balances assembled propellers/rotor blades by making appropriate linkage adjustments and by making both chordwise and spanwise weight adjustments to bring blades into true balance.
* After assembly or installation of the blade systems on the aircraft, makes final adjustments to balance, track, eliminate vibrations and ensure proper revolutions per minute (RPM) by checking blade track utilizing special tracking equipment and making weight, trim tab, and control linkage adjustments.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed in hanger areas, outdoors, in parked aircraft, and sometimes in hazardous noise areas. They often must work in confined spaces and in awkward positions. Dirt, dust, grease, and aircraft fluids are common in the work place. PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Requires moderate to strenuous physical exertion when climbing, stooping, standing, bending, stretching and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Lifts heavy equipment and components weighing up to 50 pounds. Hoists, hand trucks, balancing equipment, lifts, and other employees are available to assist when handling heavy or awkward items. * National Guard Membership is required.
* Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
* Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
* Must meet Compatible Military Assignment within one year from placement.
* Wear of the military uniform is mandatory.
* Direct Deposit is mandatory.
* Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
* Must possess a valid state drivers license.
* Incumbent is required to serve a 2-year trial/probationary period. Qualifications GENERAL

EXPERIENCE:

Experience or training that has provided the ability to perform assembly and disassembly operations and make prescribed modifications to aircraft propeller assemblies and their components in accordance with technical specifications, procedures and requirements. EXPERIENCE:

Your resume and any other supporting documentation you wish to provide must clearly substantiate you currently possess 6, 12 or 18 months of specialized experience in the following: WG-05 REQUIRES 6 MONTHS:
* Experience or training demonstrating the ability to use of common hand tools in making repetitive mechanical repairs under close supervision.
* Experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the simpler and routine duties of the trade. WG-08 REQUIRES 12 MONTHS:
* Experience or training removing and installing components and accessories with detailed guidance.
* Experience in following detailed instructions in making minor repairs and modifications to aircraft propellers, subassemblies and components. WG-10 REQUIRES 18 MONTHS:
