Genetic Toxicology Scientist; non-PhD

Role Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated laboratory scientist to join Pfizer Global Research and Development laboratories based in Groton, CT. The Scientist position is in the Genetic Toxicology department within Safety Sciences. The scientist will conduct in vitro genetic toxicology studies in support of drug discovery and development. The primary responsibilities include conducting next generation sequencing (NGS) experiments and cell biology‑based work to identify genotoxic compounds and process data.

Commitment to scientific understanding and ongoing technical development is required. The successful candidate will have expertise in automation and high‑throughput assays, experience in cellular biology, and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.

• Automation expertise
• Attention to detail and execution of established protocols using aseptic techniques
• Generation of high‑quality data in a timely manner, reviewing and uploading data into databases and performing data QC
• Close collaboration and effective communication with peers and leaders

Must Have

• B.S. degree with at least 6–8 years or M.S. degree with 4–6 years of experience working in a biology laboratory
• Mastery of automation, cell culture, and molecular techniques
• Strong scientific rigor, responsive to challenges, and applies significant rigor to own work
• Self‑aware; seeks input from others on ideas and problem‑solving; uses others as a resource
• Change‑agile, capable of quickly adapting to changes in project direction, role assignments, reporting relationships, and department organization

• Expertise in next‑generation sequencing (sequencing library preparation and data analysis)

Annual base salary ranges from $79,400.00 to $. The position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 7.5% of the base salary. Benefits include a 401(k) plan with Pfizer matching contributions, additional retirement savings contributions, paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits covering medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage.
