Job Summary

As a Supervisory Sales Associate you will be the face of our company to both the associates and our customers. You will highlight our brand and image while contributing to building our reputation as a company that values its customers and their opinions. You will be directly responsible for assisting customers and helping them recognize the need for our products and services.

You will also be a team leader to the associates, ensuring the work environment is positive and productive. Through a continuous learning environment you will stay current on products, articulate our purpose in an educational, insightful, and professional manner, and maintain a positive, outgoing nature that enjoys serving others and making a positive impact on the organization.

Responsibilities
  • Customer Service
    • Proactively engage and make a connection with customers.
    • Ask questions and listen to customer needs.
    • Direct customers to merchandise and inform them about upcoming events, promotions, mobile offers, and STAR card.
    • Provide premier customer service.
    • Cooperate and build positive, inclusive, and respectful relationships; take accountability for your own actions and outcomes.
  • Organization
    • Maintain store appearance.
  • Sales
    • Cross‑sell products and know the layout of the store.
    • Suggest to customers the latest trends and current promotions based on individual needs.
    • Upsell products.
    • Learn product features, keep up with the latest trends, and leverage company tools and technology to confidently provide customers with product knowledge and specs.
    • Use a Point‑of‑Sale system to process cash exchanges, discounts, gift cards, credit cards, debit cards, and cash handling, including counting money and returning accurate amounts to customers.
    • Complete various forms of paperwork, reports, and reconciliations.
  • Inventory
    • Serve as the keeper of merchandise; complete all inventory processes and ensure merchandise is properly checked in and accurately ticketed.
    • Participate in periodic inventories.
    • Be responsible for the security of cash, fixed assets, and merchandise inventory.
    • Provide direction on assignments, including prioritizing projects, managing merchandise, and inventory.
  • Dependability
    • Adhere to assigned work schedule.
    • Provide accurate and complete follow‑through on work assignments.
  • Supervisory
    • Provide effective leadership, demonstrate ability to direct, train, and motivate associates, and set a positive example.
    • Provide coaching, feedback, and training to sales associates.
    • Give input to the Department Manager on associate performance.
    • Possibly open and close locations.
    • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Moderate level of product knowledge and merchandise experience.
  • Provide training documentation to sales associates on product features.
  • 1–2 years of retail or relevant work experience required.
  • 1 year of lead or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret instructional documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers, peers, and management.
  • Telephone etiquette.
  • Basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and calculator use.
  • Ability to make change in U.S. currency.
  • Reasoning ability; can multi‑task while remaining customer‑focused and flexible.
  • Can work as part of a team and take initiative independently of direct supervision.
  • Ability to defuse escalated exchanges and create win‑win situations.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

This position involves constant moving, talking, hearing, reaching, grabbing, and standing for at least two consecutive hours. May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders. Vision: close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Involves lifting at least 25 lbs. and up to 50 lbs. Work is typically performed indoors but may involve outdoor assignments depending on location.
