Job Summary

Performs various duties in connection with loading, unloading, verifying merchandise in an Exchange store, storeroom or location, moving, stacking, laying away merchandise in assigned locations.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Loads and unloads merchandise, examines for damage or shortages.
  • Verifies type and quantity of merchandise received, brings discrepancies to supervisor.
  • Assists in assembly and loading of merchandise per requests.
  • Unpacks, segregates and stocks counters or shelves in accordance with instructions.
  • May price stamp merchandise.
  • Assists in periodic inventories by counting stock items, keeps storage and sales area clean and orderly.
  • Moves layaway merchandise from retail store to designated warehouse area, stacks accordingly, returns merchandise to store as required, ensures proper documentation.
  • May operate price tag machine, unload boxes/packages, pull merchandise from stock or shelves.
  • Assists customers in locating merchandise, answers general questions, may operate a cash register occasionally.
  • Works under general supervision, following instructions, with little review.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Physical Effort

Stands, walks, and handles merchandise up to 50 pounds with assistance.

Working Conditions

Generally works indoors; exposed to drafts, heat, controlled temperature climates, noise and dust; may have to stand for long periods.

Training Requirement

Associate must receive Hazardous Material (Haz Mat) training within 90 days of hire per Department of Transportation regulations.

Qualifications

Six months experience performing loading, unloading, and verifying merchandise.

Physical requirements:

stands, walks, handles merchandise up to 50 lbs with assistance.
