Duties
* You will be subject to shift work to include: call back, overtime, weekends, and holidays.
* You will be subject to interruptions from meals or other work breaks.
* You will be required to receive training on the use of oleoresin (OC) spray in a controlled training environment, to include the experience of receiving the spray to the facial area.
* You will perform installation access control for pedestrians and vehicles.
* You will serve as an initial point of contact for visitors, foreign nationals, government agents, elected officials, media, and Distinguished Visitors.
* You will record accurate and detailed information.
* You will assist Explosive Ordnance Disposal and K-9 units in search of controlled substances and explosive devices.
* You will exercise a high degree of professionalism, tact, courtesy, and firmness in the performance of all force protection duties.
* You will perform foot and vehicle patrols.
* You will perform vehicle inspections.
* You will perform Visitor Control Center duties.
* You will perform other duties at the discretion and direction of management. Requirements Conditions of employment

* Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

* Must be able to certify and re-certify in the use of all security guard equipment.
* Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
* Must be able to pass all weapons qualifications and re-qualifications.
* Must pass annual physical agility test.
* This is a bargaining unit position.
* You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
* You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
* You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
* You must meet the qualifications and be certified to carry a firearm. You will need to maintain firearm proficiency.
* This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
* Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
* This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision. Qualifications Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
1) Performs, with little or no supervision, installation access control for pedestrians and vehicles utilizing standard operating procedures, written orders and regulatory requirements as a guide to assess determination for a wide range of unique circumstances;
2) Authenticates identification by physical examination and through use of electronic Personnel Access Control Systems, identification cards, badges, biometric automated tools, verbal questioning, and other means;
3) Validates entry requests and grants access to persons and vehicles with appropriate authorizations;
4)
Serves as a member of the entry control/vehicle inspection team (static and/or mobile) which conducts private and commercial vehicles inspections;
5) Performs and resolves a full range of both standard procedural and non-recurring/unusual visitor access assignments; and
6) Serves as a member of the installation's overall security response capability during actual or simulated incidents. Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management website:
