Duties This position is located within TASMG Projects and may be extended or terminated at the discretion of the TASMG Commander.
JOB SUMMARY:
The purpose of the position is to perform repair, maintenance, modification, overhaul and installation of a variety of moderately complex electronics equipment. NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Connecticut Army National Guard. The major duties include, but are not limited to:
* Repairs, inspects, maintains, modifies, overhauls and installs a variety of avionics electronics equipment of moderate complexity of design, construction, and function.
* Diagnoses equipment malfunctions and troubleshoots components, assemblies or subassemblies.
* When designated on NGB Flying Status Orders, serves as member of flight crew for the purpose of diagnosing and recording malfunctions, or otherwise determining maintenance and repair requirements.
* Guides lower level mechanics in the performance of duties.
* Processes and accounts for due-in supply assets.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed inside in well-lighted, heated and ventilated areas or on the aircraft in restricted places, where conditions of heat or cold may occur. Occasionally works outside in inclement weather. Subject to injuries such as electrical shock, cuts and bruises, as well as burns caused by electrical or radio frequency energy, or by soldering irons. Works in high noise environment.
PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Physical effort involves lifting components and equipment, also working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Items lifted generally weigh up to 40 pounds. Assistance is usually available with heavier items. Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching, and stooping is required. Requirements Conditions of employment

* Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
* Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
* Must meet Compatible Military Assignment within one year from placement.
* Wear of the military uniform is mandatory.
* Direct Deposit is mandatory.
* Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance. Qualifications GENERAL
EXPERIENCE:
Experience or training which demonstrates the applicants knowledge of electrical or electronic theory, knowledge of common testing procedures, skill in the use of hand tools of the electronics trade, and skill in reading schematics. SPECIALIZED
EXPERIENCE:
Your resume and any other supporting documentation you wish to provide must clearly substantiate you currently possess 6, 12 or 18 months of specialized experience in the following: WG-05 REQUIRES 6 MONTHS:
* Experience or training in performing simple mechanical installations and adjustments.
* Experience which demonstrates the applicant's ability to recognize obvious malfunctions.
* Experience using common hand tools.
* Experience that demonstrates the ability to follow written instructions. WG-08 REQUIRES 12 MONTHS:
* Experience or training in utilizing principles, basic functions and application of theory of electronic systems or equipment.
* Experience in diagnosing problems and determining needed repairs for malfunctions in electronic equipment or systems.
* Experience in using hand tools, power tools and gauges to make intricate repairs.
* Experience in using diagnostic and testing equipment.
* Experience which demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications, and publications. WG-10 REQUIRES 18 MONTHS:
* Experience or training in utilizing principles, basic functions and application of theory of electronic systems or equipment.
* Experience in diagnosing problems and determining needed repairs for malfunctions in electronic equipment or systems.
* Experience in making mechanical repairs that required the use of precision measuring and calibrating equipment.
* Experience in using complex test equipment such as deviation meters, complex special test panels, etc.
* Experience which demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications, and publications.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
* Knowledge of operating electronic principles such as micro-miniaturized digital and solid state integrated circuits, transistors, diodes, antennas, signal transmission, oscillation, and amplification.
* Knowledge of standard troubleshooting techniques in order to troubleshoot and repair malfunctions where circuit theory must be used to understand the operation, not only of individual circuits but also the interaction of other circuits.
* Skill in determining repair procedures and parts required to complete repair work.
* Ability to use special and common hand tools, power tools and gauges to complete repairs and modifications.
