About the Role
Join a dynamic facilities team as a Facility Maintenance Plumber at a leading site in Groton, CT. This is an excellent opportunity for skilled professionals eager to showcase their plumbing expertise, problem-solving skills, and commitment to service excellence. This temp-to-perm position on the 2nd shift (Monday-Friday, 2:30pm-11:00pm) offers hands-on work with advanced building systems and the chance to grow in a collaborative, safety-first environment.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain facility plumbing/mechanical systems: pumps, piping, drains, water/steam distribution, lab gas, and vacuum systems
- Respond promptly to work orders and emergencies, ensuring system uptime and reliability
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on facility equipment and safety systems (backflow prev enters, eyewash stations, water filtration)
- Assemble, install, and repair pipes, fittings, and fixtures to code
- Operate hand/power tools, inspect major equipment, and take corrective action as needed
- Accurately document work performed and communicate status updates to internal teams and customers
- Support a positive team environment and deliver exceptional customer service
- Comply with GMP, GLP, safety standards, and facility protocols
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum 5 years' experience in mechanical maintenance and plumbing
- Proven hands-on expertise with building systems, including chilled/hot water, lab waste, and compressed air
- Able to read/interpret repair manuals, technical drawings, and schematics
- Proficient with Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, and Share Point
- Strong communication skills-clear, responsive, and customer-focused
- Physically fit: able to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, work in tight spaces, and wear PPE
- US Citizen or Permanent Resident (for facility credentialing)
- Valid state driver's license (or ability to obtain)
Preferred Skills
- Technical degree or trade certification
- Experience in GMP-regulated settings (pharma, biomedical, hospital)
- Familiarity with CMMS/EAMS systems for maintenance tracking
- Advanced troubleshooting of complex mechanical systems
