Position: Outside Marine Machinist Engineering Technician (Torpedo Tube Assembler)

Job Description

The Outside Marine Machinist Engineering Technician‑Torpedo Tube Assembler will perform the following:

  • Inspect, assemble and install submarine torpedo tube components including breech door, muzzle door, interlocks, shutter doors, and slide valves and submarine torpedo handling and shipping system components in accordance with applicable professional/trade standards and practices and EB provided instructions.
  • Install foundations for operating machinery and principal structures/components for submarine torpedo tubes and submarine torpedo handling and shipping systems; install, adjust, set, repair or replace various control/regulating or safety devices such as meters, gauges, valves, governors and automatic alarms.
Requirements
  • Must be able to use various portable and fixed machine tools such as boring bars, milling machines, facing machines and drill presses.
  • Must have a minimum of four (4) years of verifiable experience as an outside machinist with inspection, assembly, and installation experience of submarine torpedo tubes and submarine shipping and handling systems.
  • Must be qualified to use typical trade related precision measurement instruments such as height gauges, depth gauges; calipers, Vernier scales and various types of micrometers.
  • Must, at a minimum, have High School/Vocational School diploma or GED Certificate 2 years of time-in-the-trade performing Torpedo tube work on US Navy ships, and/or successfully completed a formal course of study in the assigned trade through either a community college, technical or trade school, military training, formal company training program, or an apprentice program in the Marine Mechanical Trades.
  • US Citizen with ability to obtain Secret Security Clearance.
