Job Overview
We are seeking a facility maintenance/plumbing systems technician for our client site in Groton, CT. The successful candidate will have outstanding skills and will be committed to working with others to deliver best in class, unparalleled excellence in customer service and satisfaction. Work hours 7:30AM – 3:30PM Monday – Friday with exceptions based on business demand.
Responsibilities- Provide advanced level expertise in responding to work orders, troubleshooting, and providing preventative and predictive maintenance to general facilities systems equipment, including plumbing, mechanical equipment, pumps, piping, backflows, drains, and other equipment as directed.
- Repair and maintain mechanical building systems such as chilled water, reheat, potable and non‑potable, hot water distribution and specific components, distilled water & reverse osmosis, laboratory gas, high and low vacuum, instrument air compressors and dryers, and waste discharge systems (effluent, lab waste, storm, sewage).
- Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
- Perform periodic maintenance on backflow prev enters, eyewash/safety showers, and water filtration systems.
- Understand and apply lock‑out tag‑out procedures.
- Inspect major equipment and operating systems, taking corrective actions as necessary.
- Operate hand tools – grinders, saws, impact wrenches, standard wrenches, drills, and similar instruments.
- Maintain high quality standards for mechanical operations, controls, and specifications.
- Assemble, install, and repair pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water and drainage systems according to specifications and plumbing codes.
- Install and repair bathroom plumbing fixtures.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair industrial facility mechanical systems, equipment and systems.
- Perform preventative and predictive maintenance inspections for water filtration systems and pipe fitting repairs.
- Work within a team and sometimes with minimal supervision.
- Ensure excellent customer service and a safe work environment.
- Minimum five years of experience in mechanical maintenance and plumbing.
- Hands‑on experience in the maintenance, repair, and operation of mechanical building systems.
- Pass medical evaluation for respirator use and fit test for several types of respirators.
- Ability to read and understand documents or information displayed on a computer screen.
- Fluency in computer use, including the full Microsoft product line.
- Obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license issued by the state and facility credentials/authorization.
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residency required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
- Regularly lift to 50lbs and climb ladders, steps, and scaffolding.
- Perform repetitive motions: bend, stoop, squat, kneel, stretch, wrist movement.
- Walk extensively throughout the facility during a shift.
- Wear steel‑toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and other PPE as needed.
- Cope with demands (stressors) associated with the job and work environment.
- Connecticut plumbing license.
- Experience working in GMP or similar regulated environment such as hospitals, biomedical or pharmaceutical campuses.
- Ability to read repair manuals, specifications, drawings, and schematic diagrams.
- Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS); EAMS experience a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Hourly rate: $32.00 – $41.00. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, and applicable laws.
