Drawbridge Operator - Groton

Responsible for the opening and closing of Shaw's Cove and Thames River Bridges in a safe and efficient manner. Must be able to communicate with dispatchers in a clear and concise manner as it relates to train and or boat traffic. Maintain records of boating traffic and any other occurrences which could impact train traffic. Report any unusual occurrences or other matters which could affect train movements.

Other duties as assigned by supervisor or dispatcher.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be able to speak in a clear and concise manner, ensuring with authority the instructions issued by them are not misunderstood.
• Must have valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds or more.
• Must have a valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prefer someone who has demonstrated experience in a customer service role.

Communications and Interpersonal

Skills:

• Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.

The hourly range is $34.88 – $38.76 (with opportunity for increases, as per the applicable collective bargaining agreement, after beginning employment). Some benefits are subject to the collective bargaining agreement.
