This is a 1st shift position, with occasional flexibility to work on 2nd or 3rd shift as necessary. Self-starter, working in Receiving. The warehouseman may also support any warehouses to receive, locate and issue material, and support the material kitting process in support of ship schedules. This position is listed for the Groton Shipyard Receiving, but could be located in a primary warehouse or work in process area at any given time, depending on business needs.
Warehouses are both indoor and outdoor located in Groton, North Stonington, Norwich, and Plainfield. Lifting and handling various weights for receiving and issuing material is required.
The successful candidate will support warehouse material systems, perform electronic receipts, material picks, tracking, and issuance.
- Basic understanding of computing tools such as handheld devices, tablets, etc. to support current and future warehouse material systems.
- Familiar with receiving and issuing hazardous material and SDS requirements.
- Good understanding of computers and access/update EB's ITS, MRP II, Electronic Work Package (EWP), Pitch Catch, Real Time Outfitting Management Information Systems (ROMIS), and others for accessing company and warehousing procedures and training.
- Must be able to drive a forklift and may occasionally work at heights up to 40 feet while utilizing a forklift.
- Obtain forklift license within Electric Boat within the first month.
- Basic math skills for supporting receipt and issuance of linear units of measure, and for cutting material to correct dimensions.
- May require boarding a submarine at times.
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 1-3 years of prior warehousing experience or a similar position with receiving, locating, segregating, and issuing material.
- Good computer/tablet proficiency.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors.
- Good math skills (convert square foot to square inch, etc.).
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance through the Department of Defense.
- Must be able to work all shifts.
Preferred:
- General knowledge and experience using inventory applications on a computer or tablet.
- Past experience operating a forklift.
- Follow directions based on procedure.
