The Florence Roche School currently serves 500 students in a K through 4th grade configuration. A collaborative team approach, with teachers and specialists working together through grade-level and cross-graded teams, is used to ensure continuity and consistency of programs. Program adoption at Florence Roche is based on the philosophy that students learn best in an environment that is emotionally and physically safe and welcoming.
Ongoing, classroom-based assessment of student progress is the foundation of the instructional program that strives to create an appropriate balance of support and challenge for each student. The use of technology as a tool for learning within the classroom and the development of comprehensive early intervention, literacy, inclusion, and social competency programs continue to be major initiatives at Florence Roche.,
, The original structure of Swallow Union School still stands nestled amongst the rolling farm lands in the town of Dunstable, MA. Although it has expanded through the years to accommodate the growth of the town, the warmth of the staff and high quality education the students receive, as well as the support from the community remains steadfast., The Boutwell School is the home to Groton-Dunstable Regional School District's Early Childhood Center.
Located in the historic district of Groton, the Boutwell School was built in 1914. With its six classrooms, high ceilings, and tall windows, Boutwell provides children and families with a warm, supportive, and nurturing introduction to the school system.
Boutwell's preschool classes are completely integrated. This means that all preschool classes have a balanced mix of typically developing children and children with special needs. Through their daily experiences, children learn that every one is a unique individual, that we all have strengths and we all have weaknesses, that sometimes we help others and sometimes we need help ourselves. Children learn about tolerance, respect, and independence.
They learn the excitement of exploration, discovery and understanding. As their awareness of others increases, children learn what it means to be a friend. In other words, some of the most important skills that people ever need to learn, are learned right here you ever need to remember how exciting learning can be, come check us out at Boutwell., In support of teaching and learning the middle school continues to connect assessment of student work with curriculum standards and instruction.
Over the past six years the middle school faculty have developed beliefs about assessment of student work that promote expectations for students in advance of instruction. The Middle School faculty believes that students are part of the assessment process, different approaches should be applied to assessment of student work, not every assessment needs to be perfect but students should be allowed to learn from their mistakes.
