Medical Technologist II, Core Lab, Per Diem

• Perform and interpret various chemical, microscopic, and/or bacteriologic tests, including the most complex, to aid patient diagnosis and treatment
• Provide guidance and consultation to Medical Technologist I’s and Medical Lab Technicians on complex or unusual test results
• Correlate clinical test results with patient history, diagnosis, and clinical condition
• Troubleshoot testing process discrepancies
• Assist in developing new tests and quality procedures
• Ensure test results meet laboratory quality-control requirements
• Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and modification of complex equipment and instrumentation
• Assist with rollout of new equipment and equipment modifications
• Instruct technicians and technologists on new equipment and procedures
• Ensure compliance with laboratory quality and safety policies
• Instruct students in clinical laboratory operations and procedures
• Maintain accurate computer-based test records

• Bachelor’s degree or successful completion of an accredited four-year school of Medical Technology
• Three years of related experience
• Proficiency in performing and interpreting chemical, microscopic, and/or bacteriologic tests
• Fully proficient in the use of all equipment and procedures for an assigned area
• ASCP certification as an MT is preferred
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted unless certification, licensure, or registration is required
• Availability for every third holiday, required on-call duty, and Sunday-through-Saturday/weekend coverage

Demonstrates expertise in performing and interpreting complex chemical, microscopic, and bacteriologic tests while ensuring compliance with laboratory quality and safety policies. Proficient in equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and instructing others in clinical laboratory operations.
