Position: Material Handler I- Box Truck Driver

Job Summary

Under general supervision, distributes either production or non‑production items and materials to various locations throughout the plant. Materials may consist of purchased parts, in‑process parts, return‑to‑stock parts, among other items.

Responsibilities
  • Maintains inventory accuracy.
  • Moves parts, WIP or finished product and delivers mail packages to various department locations and/or warehouse locations.
  • Operates material handling equipment such as pallet jacks, rolling carts or forklifts.
  • Maintains required documentation of all parts and materials moved in accordance with specified procedures.
  • Drives in various road conditions, small roadways, and highways.
  • Ensures work areas and other designated areas are maintained in a safe and neat manner.
  • Ensures all material and inventory remain properly identified and stored free from damage or deterioration.
  • Assists with the training and instruction of new employees who may be assigned to this area.
  • Sets work priorities to meet production goals as scheduled per assigned department.
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with contacts on a day‑to‑day basis.

Requirements
  • Three (3) years of experience in a warehouse environment.
  • Forklift experience preferred.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Proficient in computer use for data entry, part scanning or transacting, printing of picklists, and schedule review.
  • Meets minimum standards of safety and housekeeping per assigned department.
  • Has a valid Ohio Driver’s License.
  • Ability to read metric tape measures and use measuring devices.
  • Ability to perform all operations within acceptable inventory accuracy, quality, and time standards.
  • Must have the ability to read, write, and perform mathematical computations at a level required for successful job performance.
  • Box truck operating experience.

  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 40 lbs without assistance.
  • Ability to work from various squatting, kneeling, or bending positions.
  • Ability to work with arms above head.
  • Ability to work from ladders or scaffolding.
  • Ability to stand at a workstation for eight hours a day (minus specified breaks).
  • Ability to perform all operations within acceptable quality and time standards.
  • Ability to safely use specified hand, air, power tools, and machinery.
  • Ability to operate and understand the operation of all protective safety equipment in the area.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
  • Hand–eye coordination.
  • Required to handle and dispose of hazardous waste.
  • Understanding and carrying out required oral and written directions.
Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts, and is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, vibration, and occasionally toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is elevated.

Personal Protective Equipment Recommended and/or Required
  • Safety glasses if walking in plant vicinity.
  • Earplugs if walking in plant vicinity.
  • Work gloves.
  • Protective disposable suite when necessary.
  • Respirator when required for hazardous materials.
  • Steel toe shoes.
