Position Purpose
The Medical/Surgical – General Surgery (Bariatric/Ortho/Neuro/Surgical) Unit at Mount Carmel Grove City has 42 beds. The RN, Registered Nurse will care for patients related to general, orthopedic, neuro, and bariatric weight loss surgery. This unit is the only one within the Mount Carmel Health System that performs bariatric weight loss surgery, providing a needed service to a special demographic population. We are hiring for a full‑time, 3 12‑hour shifts, every third weekend.
This department displays outstanding teamwork and offers a 12‑week orientation period.

DescriptionWithin the scope of the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, the Registered Nurse will provide care in an atmosphere sensitive to each person’s physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. The RN collaborates in the spirit of teamwork and is accountable for the delivery of patient care using the Nursing Process within the organization’s standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
What You Will Do- Provides nursing care, ensures an environment of patient safety, promotes evidence-based practice and quality initiatives, and exhibits professionalism in nursing practice within the model of the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®.
- Assesses and evaluates patient care for an assigned group of patients, utilizing evidence-based practice. Collaborates with patients and families to develop and implement a plan of care that includes physical, spiritual, and educational components.
- Accurately communicates pertinent information to appropriate team members in a timely manner. Keeps patients and families apprised and updated.
- Documents accurately and completely pertinent assessments, interventions, and outcomes for patients in accordance with documentation standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Assumes responsibility and accountability for care provided and documented by other licensed and unlicensed care givers as appropriate.
- Education:
Graduated from a school of nursing. - Licensure / Certification:
Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio. - For Casual RNs: 2 years of experience is required.
- All new graduate nurses with less than one (1) year of clinical experience are subject to participate and will be automatically enrolled in the Nurse Residency Program.
