Position OverviewAlthough no CDL is required for this role, the truck you will operate has the capacity of approximately 35 (or more) tons. You will transport materials and may also operate heavy equipment including a crusher under the direction of a supervisor.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties And Functions)- Detect safety hazards and equipment malfunctions and respond accordingly.
- Maintain and safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment, including Haul Tuck, Water Truck, Dump Truck, Dredge, Track Hoe, Frontend Loader, and Skid Steer Loader.
- Understand and follow directions.
- Weld and fabricate as needed.
- Assist with miscellaneous duties (general labor, shoveling, equipment maintenance, assisting foreperson/crew as needed).
- Assist with equipment maintenance as needed.
- Drive the truck within the confines of the facility.
- Maintain awareness of OSHA and/or MSHA regulations.
- Perform a pre‑trip inspection of vehicle condition daily and report problems before beginning work.
- Work as a team member with other employees within the facility to ensure a smooth and safe operation.
- Ensure the crusher is fed consistently while maintaining all safety regulations (at quarry locations).
- Display a professional and courteous attitude to co‑workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
- Be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
- Be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
- Report to the assigned job site ready to begin work at the designated start time.
- Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Manual of Safety Practices and Procedures.
- Strictly adhere to company policies and procedures as outlined in the Company Book of Policies.
- Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co‑workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
- Timely and regular attendance is an expectation of performance for all employees.
To execute this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Education and Experience:
Less than or equal to a high school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior heavy equipment experience, including crushing operation, is helpful.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Protective equipment that may be required, but not limited to, welding gloves, hard hat, hearing protection, padlocks for lockout/tagout, safety (hard‑toe) shoes, use of seatbelt and harnesses when required.
Language
Skills:
Ability to communicate sufficiently to convey and exchange ideas and give and receive detailed verbal instructions.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out simple one‑ or two‑step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional variables.
The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee regularly stands, walks; uses hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reaches with hands and arms; and talks or hears. The employee frequently sits, climbs, or balances. Vision required includes distance, peripheral, and depth perception. The employee must regularly lift or move around 25 pounds and may move over 50 pounds with equipment assistance.
WorkEnvironment
Work occurs near moving mechanical parts, in outdoor weather conditions, and is exposed to wet, humid airborne particles, extreme heat or cold, vibration, and loud noise that may require protective equipment.
