Die Cutting LeadIn accordance with company policies and procedures, this position leads operators to assure quality cartons are produced and machine speeds and customer standards are maintained safely.
Responsibilities- Must have working knowledge and experience of operating Bobst 145 and Bobst 162 die cutters.
- Continuous training of inexperienced personnel and record keeping of their progress.
- Supporting, reinforcing and maintaining quality control procedures and safety procedures.
- Responsible for supervising press make‑ready: adjust press to accommodate new product sheets being cut (set feeder, lock up die, set stripper, blanker, and delivery).
- Be able to set guides, feeders and load dies (weighing approximately 150 lbs.) into cutting press.
- Inspect quality of each load run: check random sheets from each cut load to ensure quality.
- When cutting problems are encountered, flag and isolate poorly produced materials; all defective loads are to be tagged.
- Must be able to perform pre‑make‑ready and die‑prep duties.
- Maintain written records of production, waste, production time, waiting time, etc.
- Run press efficiently and perform preventive maintenance on all cutters.
- Ensure good housekeeping in the department.
- Verify materials running on load.
- Fill in and assist shift supervisor as needed.
- Assist in other areas as needed.
- Follow all Plant rules, processes, hygiene, and allergen procedures related to production of Safe Quality Foods.
- Report any potentially unsafe conditions that may result in unsafe foods or noncompliance with SQF procedures.
- Participate in SQF Root Cause and Corrective Actions from customer complaints, SQF audits, validation, and verification activities as required.
- Follow all procedures related to producing Safe Quality Foods (SQF).
- Report any potentially unsafe SQF conditions or customer complaints to a person of authority for correction.
- Must be able and willing to create and maintain a good working relationship with all Graphic Packaging International employees and lead the team.
Skills And Abilities
- Ability to read, understand, and follow job jacket instructions.
- Knowledge of location and use of all safety devices in the area.
- Must be coordinated to perform job safely and quickly.
- Use of machines, tools, equipment, and software (Bobst cutting presses, electric hand truck, and company‑provided tooling).
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Must have basic math skills.
- Preferred working knowledge of cutting press.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Must be able to tolerate repetitive work.
- Must be able to lift and handle up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to keep up with machine speeds.
- Must be able to be on your feet for long periods of time (8‑ and 12‑hour shifts).
- Requires ability to lift empty pallets weighing up to 50 pounds or 75–100 lbs. with assistance and place at the end of press.
