Rhino Medical is leading the charge seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for a locum tenens Occupational Medicine opportunity in Groveport, Ohio, within the greater Columbus market.

This is a predictable Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM outpatient assignment focused on occupational medicine, workplace injury care, employee physicals, DOT examinations, and episodic urgent care. The primary assignment is in Groveport, with potential float coverage to two additional Columbus-area centers as needed.

For APPs coming from Occupational Medicine, Urgent Care, Emergency Medicine, or Family Medicine, this offers a strong transition into a weekday-focused practice model without hospital rounding, inpatient responsibilities, nights, or weekends.

The Groveport center operates Monday through Friday from 8A–5P, and the Columbus market includes additional weekday centers that may support the potential float model described by the client.

What You'll Do

This is not traditional primary care. The clinical focus is helping employees recover from workplace injuries, safely return to work, and complete the medical evaluations required by their employers.

Responsibilities may include:

• Evaluate and treat occupational injuries and illnesses
• Manage sprains, strains, lacerations, minor fractures, burns, and other appropriate outpatient injuries
• Perform wound care and suturing
• Develop treatment and follow-up plans
• Establish appropriate work restrictions and modified-duty recommendations
• Conduct DOT/FMCSA physical examinations
• Perform pre-employment, return-to-work, and fitness-for-duty evaluations
• Order and interpret X-rays, EKGs, laboratory testing, and other appropriate diagnostics
• Administer injections, immunizations, and other outpatient treatments
• Provide limited urgent care for common acute illnesses and injuries
• Coordinate referrals and therapy when indicated
• Complete workers' compensation and occupational health documentation
• Communicate effectively with patients, employers, and the clinical team

These responsibilities align closely with the client's current Columbus-area APP model, which includes diagnostic testing, X-ray and EKG utilization, injections, immunizations, suturing, wound care, patient management, and occupational medicine workflows.

Practice Environment

The broader practice model combines occupational medicine, workers' compensation injury treatment, physical examinations, drug testing, preventive services, physical therapy, and urgent care.

APPs should be comfortable making independent clinical decisions while working within a structured outpatient occupational health environment.

Candidate Requirements

• Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
• Active, unrestricted Ohio NP or PA license
• Appropriate Ohio DEA registration
• DOT/FMCSA Medical Examiner Certification required before first shift
• Appropriate NP or PA board certification
• Strong outpatient clinical assessment skills
• Comfortable managing musculoskeletal and workplace injuries
• Comfortable performing basic outpatient procedures
• Strong documentation and communication skills

Occupational Medicine, Urgent Care, Emergency Medicine, or Family Medicine experience is strongly preferred. Current Columbus-area recruiting for this same clinical model prefers approximately two years of relevant experience.
