Position Summary

The Distribution Supervisor is responsible for leading the daily operations of an assigned shift within a fast-paced United States Postal Service (USPS) processing facility. This leadership position is accountable for employee safety, operational performance, productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction while developing a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

The Supervisor leads a team of hourly employees, makes real-time operational decisions, allocates labor and equipment resources, monitors key performance indicators (KPIs), and ensures all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with USPS and Hollingsworth standards.

This position is ideal for a hands-on leader who enjoys developing people, solving problems, and driving operational excellence.

Leadership & People Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop hourly employees to build a high-performing team.
  • Promote employee engagement, accountability, and a positive workplace culture.
  • Conduct daily shift meetings, safety talks, and performance coaching.
  • Support recruiting, onboarding, training, cross-training, and employee development.
  • Address attendance, performance, and disciplinary matters in accordance with company policies.
Distribution Operations & Labor Management
  • Direct daily shift operations to meet production goals, customer requirements, and business commitments.
  • Coordinate staffing, labor allocation, workflow assignments, and equipment utilization based on operational priorities.
  • Monitor workflow and adjust resources to address changing workloads, constraints, and operational challenges.
  • Partner with plant leadership to execute daily objectives and long-term operational goals.
Performance & Continuous Improvement
  • Monitor and manage daily KPIs including productivity, quality, safety, attendance, labor utilization, and customer performance.
  • Utilize structured problem-solving and root cause analysis to resolve recurring issues.
  • Identify barriers impacting performance and drive timely resolution.
  • Promote employee involvement in process improvement and problem-solving activities.
Safety, PIT & 6S Workplace Standards
  • Conduct safety observations, support incident investigations, and address unsafe conditions or behaviors.
  • Ensure employees receive required training and follow safe work practices.
  • Promote proper Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) operation, including operator authorization, inspections, and equipment accountability.
  • Maintain organized work areas through visual management, housekeeping standards, and workplace discipline.
Daily Management, Communication & Reporting
  • Maintain visibility of operational performance through KPI tracking, reporting, and action plans.
  • Communicate shift performance, issues, risks, and improvement opportunities to plant leadership.
  • Maintain effective communication across departments to support business objectives.
  • Complete production reporting, employee records, attendance tracking, training documentation, and operational reports.
Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum two years of leadership or supervisory experience in manufacturing, distribution, warehouse, logistics, or production operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop employees.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to analyze operational data and drive performance improvements.
  • Experience managing KPIs, productivity goals, and operational performance.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends as operationally required.
Preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations Management, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field, or equivalent leadership experience.
  • Experience leading teams in distribution, manufacturing, logistics, or mail processing operations.
  • Forklift/PIT certification or material handling equipment experience.
  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma, 6S, or Continuous Improvement programs.
  • Experience with labor planning, KPI dashboards, and performance management systems.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred based on business needs.
