Brief Description
A Specialist’s main responsibility is providing superior customer service, facilitating efficient sales transactions, and maintaining the sales floor. They maintain a high standard of service with every interaction, educating customers, listening with empathy, showing compassion, and ensuring a successful purchase. Specialists partner with leadership to ensure smooth daily operations based on their store schedule and operations. They adhere to company policies and act with integrity under the direct supervision of the Store Management Team.
Specialists also support all facets of policy, procedures, and sales floor duties in compliance with regulations governing the purchase and sale of cannabis and non‑cannabis products.
- Deliver a positive, friendly experience by engaging the customer through conversation and exceptional service.
- Enhance the store environment by focusing on customer interactions over tasks.
- Exhibit excellent floor presence by following customer standards, product placement, and time management.
- Prioritize product knowledge and actively engage in all store trainings to ensure ongoing education.
- Prioritize and communicate department insights to the direct supervisor.
- Assist the team in upholding company customer service standards.
- Work productively within the team and take initiative to collaborate toward common goals.
- Seek development opportunities to learn and grow.
- Assist in the training and development of peers.
- Lead with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Effectively complete projects and consistently follow up with tasks and service.

- Communicate store and company information/directives to peers when needed.
- Actively participate in daily department and store meetings.
- Assist the team in shipping and receiving processes and complete shipment turnaround when needed.
- Ensure all tasks are completed and keep backstock areas clean and organized.
- Proficiently use all point‑of‑sale systems and operations to provide seamless customer interactions while maintaining accuracy and compliance.
- Ensure compliance with BCC, state, and city regulations.
- Follow company emergency and safety procedures to protect employees and customers.
- Support store goals by training in loss‑prevention awareness and enforcing loss‑prevention practices.
- Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
- Keep the store neat, clean, and organized.
- Display excellent knowledge of current products and trends.
- Assist the store team by merchandising and displaying products as needed.
- Adapt to changes required by the business.
- Act professionally, with integrity, and provide open, honest feedback.
- Make fast, smart decisions, take initiative, and calculate risks to improve performance.
- Take responsibility for performance and ensure commitments are met.
- Communicate effectively at all levels.
- Develop partnerships within the team to enable business success.
- Work well with others.
- Must be 21 years old or older.
- Qualified candidates should have a minimum of one year of customer‑service experience in a retail environment.
- Must pass a federal background check via Live Scan in certain markets.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, but relevant experience is paramount.
- Experience in highly regulated businesses is desirable.
- Use sound judgment when making decisions.
- Assume other duties assigned by the supervisor.
- Exhibit strong leadership skills among peers and communicate confidently at the store level.
- Uphold excellent customer‑service skills and a service‑oriented culture.
- Achieve statistical results (sales, shrinkage).
- Previous retail experience preferred.
- Previous cannabis experience preferred.
- The job operates in a professional cannabis store environment.
- This role routinely uses standard office and store equipment such as computers, phones, printers, and POS systems.
- The position requires work at evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Regularly required to see, talk, and hear while performing duties.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands or feet, reach with hands and arms, and lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- This is a part‑time or full‑time non‑exempt hourly position reporting to store leadership.
- The position may require work on early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.
- The position may require travel to corporate offices and other store locations for training, learning, and development.
