About You and this Role

Dow is seeking a Senior Industrial Engineer to join our team in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta!

In this role, you will lead the engineering efforts for capital and expense projects, overseeing the phases from Front-End Loading to Detailed Design, Construction, and Start-up. You will serve as the primary lead for multi-disciplinary engineering teams or as an MES Project Lead. The role involves managing projects of moderate size, typically between $300K and $5MM. You will apply advanced knowledge in your area and gain the opportunity to develop new skills.

Responsibilities
  • Drive project execution and mentor the team in applying the Global Project Methodology (GPM).
  • Oversee all planning and organizational efforts during design and construction.
  • Develop and implement staffing plans.
  • Coordinate the entire process of design engineering, procurement, and construction.
  • Lead the planning of project execution, including establishing contracting strategies.
  • Analyze project risks and devise risk mitigation plans.
  • Initiate, track, and update schedules and cost estimates, monitoring project progress closely.
  • Manage scope changes and take corrective actions to meet project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Provide as-built and operations/maintenance documentation to the facility upon completion.
Qualifications
  • A Bachelors degree in Engineering is a requirement.
  • APEGA registration (EIT/P. Eng) or the ability to obtain registration within 12 months of hiring.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in areas such as engineering, project management, or manufacturing.
  • Must be physically capable of working in a plant setting, performing tasks at elevated heights, and using PPE and safety gear, including harnesses with a weight limit of 300lbs (accommodations available for up to 500lbs). Training on equipment use will be provided if necessary.
  • Candidate must be eligible to work in Canada. No visa sponsorship or permanent residency assistance will be provided.
Skills
  • Project Management Ensure the project scope is well-defined, milestones are met, and risks are controlled during all project phases, particularly during construction.
  • Team Management Work with cross-functional teams by applying techniques to identify problems and address conflicts within the team.
  • Organization and Prioritization Organize and prioritize tasks to ensure efficient and effective project execution.
  • Stakeholder Management Identify the project stakeholders, evaluate their influence, create a communication plan, and ensure active engagement.
  • Communication Ensure clear and effective communication between the project, construction, and operations teams to maintain safety and collaboration.
